Welcome back for the June edition of We Read Diverse Books. This month we will be looking for books that deal with visible disabilities or deformities, the kind that people know you have as soon as they meet you. So go read a novel or a memoir about (and if possible, by) someone in a wheelchair, amputees, people suffering from blindness, Down's Syndrome, any kind of facial or physical deformity or any other highly visible condition.
Kevin Craig's Burn Baby, Burn Baby would be a good place to start. It stars a teenager who is severely scarred from burns inflicted by his father. For older readers it would also meet the May challenge. Two birds with one stone!
