For the month of September, your job is to read a novel or a memoir that takes place in country other than the one you live in. You think this is too easy. You are right. So I am going to up the ante here a bit. It not only has to be another country, it also has to take place in a country you have never read about before. After all, the point here is to stretch ourselves, to learn to look through different eyes. So if you've been reading all those Scandinavian thrillers, maybe it's time to read something set in modern Japan. Or vice versa. The world's your oyster here, travel a bit. And make it reasonably contemporary, say in the last twenty years. This is not a historical fiction challenge.
